It's a BOY!

Went to the ultrasound tonight and it was great! At first they said we might not be able to determine the gender because I am only 14.5 weeks. The tech tried looking and said it looked like a girl and then when the baby started moving around more she said "oh! I am so sorry, there is definitely a penis there! It's a boy!" Guess he was being a little shy at first. After that he started showing off everything! We saw it all! They said we could go ahead and start painting the walls blue because there was definitely a wee wee! ha ha! We are so happy!

Here is a video of the baby! look and you can see that it is definitely a boy! :-)

A few pics from the ultrasound! click on the pics and they get bigger so you can view them better.

Ultrasound tonight!

Just booked us a 3d/4d ultrasound for tonight! Probably won't be able to determine the sex but we will get to see the little guy/gal. I will post pics tonight when we get home.

Major made me miss my prenatal yoga class this morning. He decided to run around the neighborhood like the crazy & wild animal he is. I decided not to chase him, he thinks it's a game when I do...so I waited, made a cup of coffee, and sure enough, 15 minutes later, there he was, parked on the front porch out of breath. I can't totally blame him, Owen got out first which encouraged Major's escape... oh these dogs! I just hope our child isn't this rambunctious!

For now I'm going to spend the rest of the day finishing Bailey's surprise gift, trying being productive, and then out in the sun! It's going to be clear and in the 70's today. We have to take advantage of these days out here in VA....doesn't happen very often. Love to all.

April trip planned

I booked my flight for Austin yesterday. I'm hoping the dates I chose will work out with Bailey! I really can't wait to meet my neice and be at home with the family. I will be in town April 13 -26, unless she comes early.

Haley and I have already arranged a dinner AND a breakfast trip to El Rin Con....there is no other like The Corner. I am excited to say the least! Can't wait to see everyone. It will be nice to be home for a couple of weeks! :-)

Thank you Therese and Lang! How cute!!

And yes, they will go perfect with that onesie! :-)

Doc Appointment 3/22/10

Went back to the doctor yesterday. Nurse says all of my blood work looked great so far. Such great news! No ultrasound, but we did get to hear the heart beat and that was enough. So awesome! We go back to the doc again on April 21. Won't get another ultrasound until 20 weeks when we find out the sex...which should be in the beginning of May. Woo! Hope everyone is doing good!

Life lately in VA

The weather here has been awesome, although today is overcast and thunderstorms, it was SO nice to see the sunshine this past weekend. Clayton and I took the Harley to First Landing in VA beach on Saturday. He ran the trails and I got some much needed sun on the beach.

It was great... although I don't think we'll be taking anymore Harley rides on these horribly paved highways again anytime soon. Someone should be put in jail for how bumpy and dangerous they are! Clayton says the ride was fine...guess he enjoyed it a little more than me. :-)

The dog's are doing good, Major is somewhat calming down. The more exercise he gets the better he is, so we try to take the boys to "their park", an old baseball field by our neighborhood where they can run free. They love it.

Major has also moved up from sleeping in the kennel to sleeping on the floor in our bedroom at night. (Let's keep our fingers crossed) Owen hasn't changed much, still a little old grumpy man towards major's young, full-of-life personality, but they are getting along for the most part.

We have also stared going to a church in Virginia Beach, not far from our house, called New Life Providence Church. It has been the first church in Virginia where we feel it is right for us. I am so glad the Lord brought us there and we have a place to call home. Praise!

I'm only able to wear one last pair of pants without the belly band...tummy is growin! We go back to the doctor today at 2:30. We are very excited!! .

I am so excited about my niece's arrival in April. I can hardly wait! I will be coming home sometime in April for the birth, some much needed time with the family, and hopefully some true Texas BBQ! That sounds great right about now! Clayton will also be coming in town for the weekend after Bailey is born.

11 weeks

11 weeks pregnant!

Not much of a bump yet!

Baby on the way! Feb 2-5

As many of you know, Clayton and I are expecting our first baby! We wanted to be able to share this chapter of our life with all of the people we love. Since we are so far away from the family and most of our friends, we have created a blog to keep in touch with all of you, and to keep you updated along the way. Enjoy!

February 2nd I woke up and decided it was time to take a pregnancy test. I wasn't worried or really expecting anything either way, just took the test. Clayton left the previous morning for training, so I was by myself.

So... I did my thing... and waited a good 10-15 seconds. I wasn't expecting a result that fast.. Wow! I fell to my knees, wept, and thanked the Lord for what I had seen. A positive result!

I paced around the house for the next couple of hours until I had to "go" again. Surprised and shocked all over again, the next test was also positive. Wow.

The previous week had been probably one of the hardest weeks I have had in a long time! I was emotional, lonely, a blizzard had blown in from who knows where, we were stuck in the house for 3 days straight, I was just feeling really down about everything! So this surprise was a bright start to the week ahead and I was thankful for that!

I called the Navy Medical Clinic to make an appointment, and was scheduled for Thursday. It was very hard for me to keep this a secret...especially from Clayton. I wanted to tell him SO badly, just not over the phone, it didn't seem right. So I waited. But in the mean time I ordered a longhorn onesie from the University of Texas Co-op, hoping this would be an appropriate way to break the news to Clayton, UT's #1 fan.

Went to the doctor on Thursday and once again, the results were positive. The nurse called me back in after a long 45 minutes of waiting and said.."congratulations, your going to be a mother!" That was weird to hear, but good, really good! I received a ton of new baby/mother literature and prenatal vitamins.

Friday finally rolled around, and of course, I had to work until 9:30pm at the school. Clayton got home from his trip around 4 pm. I was so anxious about telling him! When I finally made it home around 10pm, I found him in the kitchen making a snack. I handed him the Co-op bag with the results from the doctor.

He was very excited and had a big smile on his face. I cried a little and we hugged and kissed and laughed together. Such a relief to be able to tell him!

So that's our little story of how we found out that we are going to be parents! We are so excited and cannot wait to meet the little one God is bringing into this world. So exciting!! Thanks for reading, we will keep ya'll updated in the near future! Love to everyone!

1st Doctor visit! Feb 22

On February 22, Clayton and I went to the doctor for my first appointment at the Virginia Center for Women in Chesapeake.

Doc said everything looked good. They took blood, urine, and did a regular OB check up. They told me I was right at 9 weeks pregnant.

Then we went into another exam room and got our first ultrasound. This was so much fun and I will never forget it. We got to see our little peanut and the nurse explained everything we were seeing on the screen. She zoomed in and we could see a little flicker right in the middle of the peanut... the babies heart! So exciting to see! We also heard the heart beat and nurse said it was about 173 beats per minute. Clayton was truly in amazment and the look on his face made me laugh out loud uncontrolably. The nurse couldn't even hold the picture on the screen because of my laughter. It was pretty funny!

We go back to the doc on march 22nd, I will be 13 weeks. We can't wait to see how much baby has changed!
